Things I’ve Done in the Past 3 Months

Hey everyone! Since I’ve been MIA for the past 3 months (lets be real its more like 5) I thought you might want to see what I’ve been up to at college (or not that’s okay too). Without further ado, here is a random compilation of things I’ve done in college!

Visited Lawn on DAlso known as the place with the giant glowing swings. My roommate and I took an adventure with some other friends from school and waited in a long-ass line just to get a semi-decent picture on a glowing swing, but it was super fun and I got to spend some time with some good people.

Went to Primark for the first time! Unfortunately, we only have one Primark in the U.S. and I’d never been. However, after hearing so much about this incredible place I was ready to experience it and I went with one of my best friends who goes to college nearby. It truly was a life-changing experience.

Made stovetop mac and cheese in the microwave. My friend’s mom accidentally bought her 16 boxes of stovetop mac and cheese instead of Easy Mac, so we did what any college kid would do: we attempted to cook the stovetop mac and cheese in the microwave. Result? It actually turned out pretty well!

Visited Luke’s! As any Gilmore Girls fan knows, Luke’s is an integral part of the show. In order to promote the special four episode series on Netflix that came out at the end of November, coffee shops across the country turned into Luke’s for the day! My friend and I (as diehard Gilmore Girls fans) got up early and took an Uber to a coffee shop 15-2o minutes outside of Boston just to get some free coffee (with the Luke’s sleeve of course) and to get a pic with a cardboard cutout of the man himself. Was it worth the $15 Uber ride? 100% yes.

Found my favorite place in the library. One day, as we were walking through the stacks, trying to find a place to study, my friend and I found a small table with two chairs that was in between two shelves. I loved that it was surrounded by books and devoid of people and has since become one of my favorite places in the library.

Hosted my own college sponsored event. As a member of a club on my campus that puts on events for those who live on campus, I was able to put on my own event, which was such an incredible opportunity! I decided to host a paint night and played a video which taught everyone how to paint the scene above and it was super fun! Excited to be able to do something like this again! 🙂

Hey there! Remember me?

Hey everyone! Long time no talk. I hope you’re all doing well. I just finished my first semester of college and freaking loved it. For those of you who don’t know (probs all of you because I don’t think I’ve ever shared this publicly), I go to Northeastern University in Boston, MA and I am studying computer engineering.

Despite the fact that I got almost no sleep this semester and Physics just about killed me, I finished the semester with all As! I also met some incredible people, made some incredible memories, and I’m so happy where I’ve ended up. However, now I’m home and bored as hell so expect to hear more from me over the next couple of weeks (or not because I also may not be able to get my shit together).

The Blogger Interview

I’m so freaking excited about this post because Rachel from Willow Tea tagged me and Rachel is awesome and basically the bomb dot com and I’ll just stop fangirling now and get on with this post.

How did you get into blogging?

I’ve done the blogging thing a couple of times already. I’ve had a book blog at one point and before that I had a blog called What To Do When You’re Bored (#noshame). I’ve just always loved the idea of having my own little space on the internet so on January 1st, 2014, I decided to give blogging another go. But this time, I didn’t want to be confined by a certain type of blog, I just wanted to write. Thinking about it now, I guess I wanted to help people through my writing as well. I mean that’s why I wrote a What To Do When You’re Bored and a book blog I guess.

What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?

Don’t compare yourself to other bloggers. I am absolute sh*t at this. I do it all the freaking time. I worry that I should be looking at my analytics more or that I should be optimizing each post for search engines or whatever. But just because everyone else is doing it, that doesn’t mean you have to. Let loose, run free, just be yourself, and wholeheartedly enjoy it! 🙂

What would be your dream campaign?

If I’m being honest here, I don’t totally understand this question, but I think I would want to be part of a campaign on education reform because it’s probably the issue I feel mostly strongly about. Nothing frustrates me more than the U.S. education system and how it’s run.

Do you have a plan for your blog?

Yes. I plan to post 3-4 times a week from now on with one of those posts being a YouTube video. I want to have all my posts written and scheduled by Sunday evening so I don’t have to worry about getting stuff up during the week and at the last minute. I plan to be super organised like Cliona. But mostly, I plan to enjoy my blog more and compare myself to other less.

What do you think about rankings?

I pay attention to them, but I try not to care, because that’s not why I started this blog. I do like looking at my analytics though and seeing which blogpost are most popular. I’ve never created a blogpost because a similar one was popular, but for some reason I like looking at all the stats. It’s probs just because I enjoy technology so much and think it’s cool. I don’t think that really relates the question. Tevs.

Now is the time, of course, to tag other bloggers who should feel obligated I will kindly ask to answer these questions as well:

Cliona from Cliona Hill

Okay so maybe it’s just one blogger, but hey I’m not going to tag a bunch of people’s blogs who I don’t read on a regular basis and the only two blogs I read these days are Rachel’s and Cliona’s. Unfortunately I can’t tag Rachel because she already tagged me. So Cliona it’s all you girl. (You should go follow both of them by the way, they’re both beautiful, wonderful people.)

UPDATE: I forgot I had other friends. I also tag Gretchen from Glitter, Glamour, Glow to do this. She’s a wonderful person and although she hasn’t posted anything yet (other than her welcome post) I know her blog is going to be amazing.

Oh and please let me know what your answers are to these questions down below.

you’re wonderful

have a great day

Watch Me Embarrass Myself In Front of a Camera (aka My First YouTube Video)

Hey guys! I’ve got some very exciting news today. I started a YouTube channel! I’ve been talking about doing this for a while and I finally found the time to do it! And before you think, “Oh, she’s just doing this because everyone else does it.” First of all, let me tell you no, that is not why. Although I do recognize that YouTube (as well the blog world) has an oversaturated market, I decided to start a YouTube channel because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve always wanted to make videos and edit them. I shouldn’t have to explain myself, but I’m going to because I want people to understand where I’m coming from.

On a side note, filming, editing, and uploading this video was kind of a nerve racking experience for me. The video that I uploaded is actually my second attempt at filming this video because I didn’t like how the first one I filmed came out. Then I almost didn’t upload this video because I didn’t like my appearance and I found I was comparing myself to all the other YouTubers out there. And honestly, I’m torn because I want to make my YouTube videos good and I’m trying to figure out if my appearance is part of that.

Anyways, sorry for the long ramble, but please let me know if you have any of the same thoughts or if you think I’m completely crazy. Like I say in my video, I stress about everything. Okay my darlings, have a beautiful wonderful day! Oh and please watch my video if you have a chance and let me know what you think! Okay thanks! Love you guys! Bye!

Take Back What’s Yours!

I was tagged by the lovely Zoe Mack to do this post! Basically, it’s about positivity and taking back traits that were once yours. Sort of like a New Years Resolution! I thought it was such a nice idea so thank you Zoe for tagging me! You can read her post here.

Confidence: I can be a pretty confident person sometimes, but that’s usually if I’m in a setting that I’m very familiar with. Unfamiliar settings make me very nervous and I tend to deny myself opportunities because I don’t feel confident enough to do certain things or go into certain situations. Once I put myself into those situations I usually end up being fine, but I need to work on feeling confident enough to get myself into those situations. (It’s like activation energy in Chemistry! Anyone? No? Okay…)

Kindness: Being kind is so so important. I’m not unkind person, but sometimes I can be very sarcastic and sometimes the sarcasm goes too far and just becomes kind of mean. I just want to remind myself to be kind to everyone I meet, especially those who aren’t always so kind to me because who knows what they’re going through.

Myself: I tend to put other people’s feelings over my own. Like, a lot. Sometimes too much so that it’s detrimental to myself. Something I want to be able to do is put myself first when I need to.

Basically, I want to be able to live by this quote from the Cinderella movie:

Blogiversary + Hopes for 2015

IMG_2006 - Version 3

One year ago today I wrote my very first post on this blog talking about my hopes and dreams for the upcoming year. One year, 95 posts, and 105 Bloglovin’ followers later, here we are. I am so so thankful to each and every one of you that has supported me in any way, whether it be by following my blog, commenting, or even just taking the time to read a post. Thank you so so much and I love each and every one of you. As I continue to grow and expand my blog, I’d love to hear your suggestions and comments. Always feel free to shoot me an email or tweet at me.

Now on to my hopes for 2015. I want to do so many things this year and I know doing everything is not going to be possible, but here it goes anyways. This year I would like to:

  1. Be more active – Okay I know I say something along these lines every year, but this year I actually have a plan. I got a vívofit for Christmas (basically just a fancy pedometer) and it has a very cool feature where it automatically sets a goal for you, depending on how many steps you took the day before, gradually trying to get you to be more active. Hopefully I’ll be working out more this year as well, but…baby steps.
  2. Cook/bake something once a week – I love to bake and cook and I want to be doing a lot more of that this year. I’m looking at some cooking/baking classes and one of these days I hopefully will be able to start my own bakery!
  3. DON’T PROCRASTINATE – This is my biggest problem. I procrastinate EVERYTHING. This year my goal is to start things as soon as I get them because school is my biggest priority right now. If that means blogging has to take the backseat, I’ll be sad, but so be it. My time management skills need some serious work though.
  4. Start a YouTube channel – Making videos is something I’ve been into every since I was little and I’d really like to start getting back into that. However, this is probably the least likely to happen of this whole list as finding the time to do EVERYTHING is pretty hard. Hopefully I’ll get a few videos up this year though!

This year is going to be crazy and amazing and really freaking awesome. I am so ready. LET’S DO THIS.

What are your hopes for the New Year?
