It’s All in the Details

Version 2Version 2

I love all the little details that make up an outfit: the earrings, the bracelets, the patterns. Details tie everything together and can make or break an outfit. Recently, I’ve been wearing certain details everyday (as you can see from the photos, there are a ton of bracelets on my wrist). Each one has its own story and its own special memory and I like being able to look down everyday and be reminded of that.

The pink bracelet is from the twenty one pilots concert which was just absolutely incredible. The dark grey bracelet with the silver clasp was a graduation gift from one of my best friends. The red bracelet was something we needed to get into events at orientation. The lobster claw bracelet was a graduation gift from my parents so that I will always remember Maine. The puzzle piece bracelet was something we made at orientation to represent how we are all connected as individuals.

Moving on from the bracelet details. I’ve been loving my elephant pants lately. We had some hot, rainy weather a while back and I didn’t particularly want to go to work in shorts because I would be cold, but jeans would be too hot. Loose, flowy pants were the perfect solution! I’m not going to lie, I struggled to find a good way to style these pants for a long time. Longer shirts always felt awkward and just didn’t look right. However, after some Google searching and Pinterest browsing, I realized that crop tops are the solution! I got this crop top at a consignment store, but it’s from Abercrombie and Fitch. I love how it’s 3/4 length because it makes it versatile for all seasons.

Valentine’s Day Look

Valentine’s day is just around the corner and my sexy lingerie loving friends at Adore Me, inspired me to think about a Valentine’s Day look. Whether you have a date or are just going out with friends I have cute, yet sophisticated look for you!

Version 2For makeup I went for the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation as my base and covered up any spots with my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. For eyes I went for my Loc One & Done Shadow Stick in the shade “On Point,” put that all over my eyelid, then took a bit of glittery brown eyeshadow that I have (no idea the name of the palette or the shade soz), and blended that into my crease (look at me talking like I actually know something about makeup). Then I lined my eyes with my Stila liquid eyeliner and Wet n Wild pencil. I finished my eyes off by curling them and then going in with the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. For blush I went for the Balm Desert Bronzer/Blusher and applied some of my Pearl Invasion highlighter on my cheekbones. I finished off the look with some of my Rimmel Stay Matte powder and a swipe of nude lipstick.

Version 2IMG_8243I love this dress from Forever 21 because it’s so flowy and sophisticated. There’s a cheeky little cutout in back which I think adds just a little bit of something extra. Plus, the colors just scream winter to me, making it perfect for this time of year. I paired it with my Mootsie Tootsie white wedges (which are so cute, but tbh seen better days) and these cute little earrings that my friend gave me for my birthday last year.

Adore Me, along with having really pretty underwear, has some really nice pajamas. Plus, if you order from them by Wednesday, February 10th, it will arrive in time for Valentine’s Day!

I hope that this post inspired you and that you have great Valentine’s Day, no matter what you’re doing! Let me know what your plans are in the comments below!

Golden Globes Best Dressed 2016

Of course, this is only one girl’s opinion.

I write this to you at 11:45 at night after spending an hour and fifteen minutes trying to sleep. That will teach me not to drink tea after 4pm. Sitting in front of computer is probably not going to help me sleep any better, but please enjoy my late night ramblings.

lady-gagaOh my gosh Lady Gaga. What a classic. This all black number with the sweetheart neckline, it’s so simple, but it takes my breath away.

jennifer-lawrenceJ. Law looking flawless as always. jenna-dewan-tatumJenna Dewan Tatum. Wow. I’m a sucker for royal blue, sparkly dresses that look like ball gowns.

lily-jamesLily James looks like a freaking Greek goddess in that dress. I love how it’s so wispy and has that asymmetrical part to it.

uzo-adubaGotta love those sparkles and sleeves. So classic. You go Uzo Aduba.

gina-rodriguezGina Rodriguez, you are my idol. I love this blue, off the shoulder dress. It’s such a pretty color and I love the full skirt.

Modcloth Shoe Wishlist

Modcloth Shoe Wishlist

Modcloth has an amazing selection of everything––clothing, accessories, little gift items, etc––but they have an especially amazing collection of shoes. Their shoes are beautiful and if I had the money to buy every single pair, I probably would. As I was trying to find some new black booties the other day, I decided to have a little look around ModCloth and see if I saw anything I liked. This ended up being very dangerous. I’m now lusting after numerous pairs of shoes and I thought I’d take a minute to share some of them with you. (Even as I’m writing this I’m finding new ones that I love.)

I love those mint heels simply because I don’t have any shoes in that color and I thought the heels were a nice height and wouldn’t be too much. I feel the same way about the powder blue heels. I especially love the vintage vibe the blue ones have going on. That style would definitely fit in with most of the things in my closet. I think my absolute favorites are those cat heels though. I NEED THEM IN MY LIFE. I don’t think I can justify shelling out $65 dollars for yet another pair of black shoes. *sigh* Christmas maybe?? The beige Mary Jane heels are probably the least exciting of the bunch, but I want a neutral heel and I loved the strap that goes across the foot. The last pair are the perfect, vintagey, go with everything shoe and oh my goodness they’re so pretty. If they were available in my size I would buy them, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

#CosmopolitanChic Style Challenge

The other day I was contacted by someone from Cosmopolitan Las Vegas to participate a style challenge! The challenge was this:

“If you were spending an entire day at The Cosmopolitan, from brunch in the morning, to dinner at a fancy restaurant, to a night out with your friends at the Marquee nightclub, what outfits would you wear and how would you style them?”

I thought it would really fun to participate, so, without further ado, here are my three outfits:

IMG_2632 - Version 2

What I really wanted to do with this challenge is make it so each outfit transitioned nicely into the next, therefore repeating some key pieces. Therefore, I got out one of the most versatile items in any girl’s closet: the chambray shirt! I paired it with one of my favorite skirts (WHICH WAS ONLY THREE DOLLARS! WHAT?!) to give the outfit a little bit more color and added my favorite pair of flower earrings to make the outfit a little bit more interesting. Add your favorite wedges, a messy bun, some nude lipstick, and you’re all set!

IMG_2662 - Version 2 IMG_2670 - Version 2Transitioning right along, I paired my favorite LBD (which you can see a better picture of below) with the same chambray shirt, a statement necklace, and some black booties (not pictured). I opted out of earrings on this one as I feel there’s already a lot of jewelry going on in that area, but if you’re a person who absolutely cannot go without earrings, I would opt for some studs that match your necklace. (I just didn’t have gold studs, sorry.)

PicMonkey Collage1MY FAVORITE LBD OF ALL TIME! (I only have 2 other, but shhhhh) I love how this dress fits and how it shows just the right amount of skin and oh my goodness it is just the perfect dress. I would pair it with these classy heels and some hoops (not pictured). The hair would be down and the smoky eye would be going strong.

I hope you all enjoyed that as I had lots of fun thinking up the outfits! I probably won’t be going to Vegas for a few years, but when I do, I’ll know what to wear! I welcome you all to participate in this challenge as well and please let me know if you do! Have a wonderful rest of your day everyone!

Comfy Cozy

ComfyCozyIMG_1807 - Version 2 IMG_1814 - Version 2American Eagle Flannel // Victoria’s Secret Leggings (similar) // Grey Old Navy Boots (similar)

I am in love with this flannel that I bought during Black Friday. It’s so warm and comfy while still looking really cute. The other day Rachel from Willow Tea posted an outfit on her blog and in that post she talked about how we’re not perfect, we’re still growing and evolving, and how each outfit is a mark of the evolution of our style. I totally agree. This outfit isn’t perfect. In fact, it’s probably one of my lazier outfits and I’d much rather be wearing Bean Boots. What’s important though is you feel cute, because that’s what makes your style, your style. (Also, thank you to my sister for taking these pictures!)

What do you think of this outfit?

I’ve wanted to do this post for a long time. I mentioned back in Tuesday’s post that one of my goals this school year was to wear a different outfit for every day I have school. I also mentioned a tool that would help me achieve this goal, so here we are!

“Plan and share outfits, get style advice, see what your friends are wearing, all from the smartest digital closet on the web. Don’t know what to wear? Stylitics will suggest items you haven’t worn in a while. You can also keep track of when you last wore an outfit, and see your own information, like average price per wear. Add and import past purchases and have all of your clothes in one place. It’s your style, smarter.” – Quoted from the Stylitics website

Basically, what you do is take pictures of all the items in your closet (you don’t have to do this all in one day, you can do it over time, as you wear the items of clothing), enter a little bit of information about them, and voila! Digital closet. Every day, you can check in what you were wearing and plan outfits for the rest of the week. If you click on an item of clothing you’ll be able to see how often you’ve worn that item, what outfits you’ve worn it with, and what items you wear it with the most.

Screen Shot 2014-09-02 at 9.04.12 AM Screen Shot 2014-09-02 at 9.04.27 AMYou can also choose different ways to organize your online closet. You can organize it by the type, the color, the brand, the pattern, the price, how often you wear it, or by how recently you’ve worn it.

Another cool feature is that you can ask your friends what looks best with an outfit. For example, if I didn’t know what pair of shoes to wear with a dress I could ask my friends. I haven’t spent much time using this particular feature on Stylitics, but it’s cool to know it exists.

This is just the general outline of what Stylitics has to offer and I encourage you to go and check it out. Let me know if you do! Also let me know if you decide to try to wear a different outfit every day of the school year as well. Oh, and despite what you might think, this is not a sponsored post. I just really like this website. Make sure to check out the app as well!

Kisses, Gwen
