Summer Skincare Routine

Hey lovelies! Before we know it, summer is going to be over (*cries*). But before that happens, I wanted to share my summer skincare routine with you and let you know how I’ve been keeping my skin looking beautiful during these wonderfully warm months. You watch my video on my full skincare routine down below or go to the link here.

I didn’t mention it in the video, but one of the things that has been key to keeping my skin so clear these past few months is the fact that I’ve been doing a lot of cooking for myself lately. I’ve stayed away from eating out too much and have refrained from consuming the copious amounts of sugar I tend to eat during the summer months (although I do still have a soft spot for ice cream). It is so important to treat your body just as nicely on the inside as you treat it on the outside. If you’re looking for some inspiration, Aloha, a brand committed to health, happiness, and beauty from the inside out, has a bunch of recipes on their website, which all look amazing. Personally, I’m eyeing the Superfood Mango Lassi Smoothie Bowl.

Let me know what you think of my skincare routine and if you try any of the recipes from Aloha’s website! I love hearing from you guys!

May Empties

Okay so kind of a late Empties post, but, hey, it’s here! Enjoy! 🙂

Clump Crusher Mascara: I absolutely love the brush on this mascara! It’s perfect for using on your bottom lashes. True to its word, there are no clumps! However, I really can’t say there is 200% more volume. However, I think this mascara is good for a very natural, everyday look and for just swiping on your lashes really quickly before leaving the house. Will probably be repurchasing this in the future!IMG_8016_FotorIMG_8024

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara: I really had a love-hate relationship with this mascara. When I first started using it, I was like “Ew, no,” but I took a break from it for a while and went back to it. Although it is not the perfect mascara I’m looking for, it does a pretty good job (better than the mascara I’m using right now). However, I don’t know if I would recommend it to other people just because it’s been so hit and miss with other people. Would I repurchase this mascara? Maybe. If I can’t find any other drugstore mascara I like, then yes, but I think I’ll wait to come back to this one.

Harmony Crème Balm: Oh my goodness I love this moisturizer so much. This was my holy grail moisturizer during the winter. I have combination skin which becomes more dry in the winter and more oily in the summer. However, until I met this bad boy, I was never able to find a moisturizer that gave my skin lots of moisture while still being mattifying. This moisturizer does that!!! However, it’s a little out of my price range so I doubt I’ll be using this again anytime soon, but this little pot did last a good 2-3 weeks (a little goes a loooong way), so maybe it’s worth the investment. Or…Christmas present?
IMG_8321Softlips Lip Balm: This used to be my favorite lip balm before I discovered Burt’s Bees. It has that cooling sensation like Burt’s Bees does (which I love), but is less moisturizing. I was using this because I currently trying to use up all the remaining lip balm I have so I can just use Burt’s Bees from now until forever. 🙂

Hope you enjoyed this post and I’d love to see your Empties Posts so put your links below!

Olay Moisture Quench Body Wash Review

I’m always on the lookout for a new body wash. (Soap and Glory’s Sugar Crush and Nivea’s Touch of Cashmere are my current favorites, if you were wondering.) However, I did enjoy this one as well. What drew my eye to it was the fact that it was cheap (only about $4 dollars when I bought it, but I think the actual price is about $6) and apparently it had a whole jar of moisturizer in it. I was sold, but I was skeptical about whether or not it would actually live up to expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I found the texture to be very thick and the body wash felt luxurious on my skin. However, I wouldn’t recommend using this when taking a bath, as it can make your skin feel heavy. This doesn’t happen in the shower though and it also might just be me. The only other possible complaint someone might have is the scent. It is a very sweet orchid scent. I actually don’t mind it all that much, but if you don’t like a strong floral scent, then don’t try this. I would recommend this overall though.

What is your favorite body wash?

March Empties

This is my first Empties post! I was so proud of myself for actually finishing some products and excited because I got to try some new ones. Enjoy!

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm – This is my favorite lip balm of all time. No other lip balm compares. I don’t even like the other Burt’s Bees Lip Balms. For example  there is the one with pomegranate oil: dries out my lips. Burt’s Bees is so cheap too! It’s a win win situation here. I will definitely be repurchasing.

Dove Visible Care Body Wash – I was not impressed with this product. Dove always brags that their products are super moisturizing and don’t leave that clean feeling like other body washes do. I think Dove is mostly talking about their Deep Moisture Body Wash, but still. This product did not seem moisturizing to me. It left that clean feeling that Dove said it didn’t leave. Also, I was not happy with the packaging. There was still a bunch of body wash left, but I couldn’t get to it because it was stuck in the corners! (I’ve heard other people have had problems with Dove packaging too.) I will not be repurchasing this product. However, I would like to purchase Dove’s Deep Moisture Body Wash to see whether or not Dove commercials are a total lie.

Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Shampoo & Conditioner – I like this shampoo and conditioner. It moisturizes my hair well enough and keeps it nice and curly. I am guessing that there are shampoos and conditioners out there that could make my curls even more defined, but I just have not tried that many of them. I like this well enough though and I probably repurchase in the future. However, right now I’m shopping around to see if I can find the perfect shampoo and conditioner.

COOLA Tinted Matte SPF 30 for Face – I got this in my March Birchbox. What was I supposed to do with this…? I know it’s a sunscreen, but there hasn’t been much sun around lately so I’m not really sure if it works… However, it also says on the packaging that it is a Natural BB Cream. So am I supposed to use it as that? That’s what I’ve been using it for, but is that what I’m supposed to doing? I’m just confused with this product. In terms of the way the product works: it is matte. Or at least it feels matte when it goes on my face. My skin is not very oily as it is so I couldn’t really tell you. In terms of tint I would say…maybe? When I wear it I feel like my face looks a little better, but I don’t think there is really any difference. Overall, I probably won’t purchase a full size of this product just because it is too expensive for my taste.

Secret Natural Mineral Eucalyptus Blossom Deodorant – I have very sensitive skin. This includes my armpits. I can’t use most deodorants for long periods of time because they give me an itchy rash and that’s just not fun. However, I discovered this deodorant last year and I love it! So if you have sensitive armpits like me, try this deodorant! Will definitely be repurchasing this deodorant because it’s the only one I use!

What are your March Empties? Do you use any of these products?
