I was tagged by the lovely Zoe Mack to do this post! Basically, it’s about positivity and taking back traits that were once yours. Sort of like a New Years Resolution! I thought it was such a nice idea so thank you Zoe for tagging me! You can read her post here.
Confidence: I can be a pretty confident person sometimes, but that’s usually if I’m in a setting that I’m very familiar with. Unfamiliar settings make me very nervous and I tend to deny myself opportunities because I don’t feel confident enough to do certain things or go into certain situations. Once I put myself into those situations I usually end up being fine, but I need to work on feeling confident enough to get myself into those situations. (It’s like activation energy in Chemistry! Anyone? No? Okay…)
Kindness: Being kind is so so important. I’m not unkind person, but sometimes I can be very sarcastic and sometimes the sarcasm goes too far and just becomes kind of mean. I just want to remind myself to be kind to everyone I meet, especially those who aren’t always so kind to me because who knows what they’re going through.
Myself: I tend to put other people’s feelings over my own. Like, a lot. Sometimes too much so that it’s detrimental to myself. Something I want to be able to do is put myself first when I need to.
Basically, I want to be able to live by this quote from the Cinderella movie:
Let me know what you guys want to “take back” in the comments section below and if you can relate to anything I talked about! Also please feel free to do this tag yourself and leave a link in the comments section below!
My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult is about a girl named Anna whose sister has cancer (I know, I know, another cancer story, but stick with me here). Anna was born to be a perfect donor for her sister and this book follows Anna through her journey of trying to get medical emancipation so she will not be forced to donate a kidney to her sister. (The book is much more complex than that, but that’s the general gist.)
This book is absolutely wonderful. I wasn’t expecting all that much from it, as I’ve never heard anyone talk about it. I also picked it up at a used book store and the used books I pick up never tend to that good. Well I’ve got to say, this definitely broke the stereotype. It is so well written and beautiful and by the end of it I was crying. Guys. I NEVER cry because of books or movies. The only other book that has ever made me cry was Where the Red Fern Grows and that was 5 years ago. If you haven’t read this book, you really need to because it’s a wonderful book, it really is.
What wonderful books have you read lately?
And no, if you were expecting a post about basketball, that’s not what this is. (Actually, I did win my family’s March Madness bracket, but that’s beside the point.)
March has been CRAZY. There haven’t been any school breaks and every weekend has been so busy that it sometimes felt that there weren’t any breaks at all. Blogging definitely took the backseat during that time, which was sad, but it happens. I thought I’d give you a rundown of some of the stuff I’ve been up to though and I’m going to do it in list form because lists are fun and they’re also really easy to read.
- Rehearsal for theatre
- College planning meeting
- Multiple prom committee meetings
- More rehearsal
- Theatre competition
- Asked to prom
- Another theatre competition
- My prom date somehow becomes my boyfriend (like…what even??)
- Rehearsals for our school musical start and I actually have a part I’m pretty excited about
- Last AP U.S. History test of the year!
And now I’m on April break! One week off and then it’s going to be back to craziness for another few weeks. *Sigh* The cycle never ends. I like being busy though. It can be stressful at times, but it makes me feel like I’m being productive with my time. I know I didn’t really go into detail about anything on this list, but I didn’t want to bore you! If there’s anything you’d like me to write more about, let me know because I’d love to write a post about it.
I hope you guys have had a good past couple of months! Let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments!
