#CosmopolitanChic Style Challenge

The other day I was contacted by someone from Cosmopolitan Las Vegas to participate a style challenge! The challenge was this:

“If you were spending an entire day at The Cosmopolitan, from brunch in the morning, to dinner at a fancy restaurant, to a night out with your friends at the Marquee nightclub, what outfits would you wear and how would you style them?”

I thought it would really fun to participate, so, without further ado, here are my three outfits:

What I really wanted to do with this challenge is make it so each outfit transitioned nicely into the next, therefore repeating some key pieces. Therefore, I got out one of the most versatile items in any girl’s closet: the chambray shirt! I paired it with one of my favorite skirts (WHICH WAS ONLY THREE DOLLARS! WHAT?!) to give the outfit a little bit more color and added my favorite pair of flower earrings to make the outfit a little bit more interesting. Add your favorite wedges, a messy bun, some nude lipstick, and you’re all set!

IMG_2662 - Version 2 IMG_2670 - Version 2Transitioning right along, I paired my favorite LBD (which you can see a better picture of below) with the same chambray shirt, a statement necklace, and some black booties (not pictured). I opted out of earrings on this one as I feel there’s already a lot of jewelry going on in that area, but if you’re a person who absolutely cannot go without earrings, I would opt for some studs that match your necklace. (I just didn’t have gold studs, sorry.)

PicMonkey Collage1MY FAVORITE LBD OF ALL TIME! (I only have 2 other, but shhhhh) I love how this dress fits and how it shows just the right amount of skin and oh my goodness it is just the perfect dress. I would pair it with these classy heels and some hoops (not pictured). The hair would be down and the smoky eye would be going strong.

I hope you all enjoyed that as I had lots of fun thinking up the outfits! I probably won’t be going to Vegas for a few years, but when I do, I’ll know what to wear! I welcome you all to participate in this challenge as well and please let me know if you do! Have a wonderful rest of your day everyone!

Which outfit was your favorite?

January Birchbox

IMG_2411 - Version 2 IMG_2419 - Version 2Hey everyone! Today I bring you my January Birchbox! I’m really disappointed in myself that I never posted my December Birchbox because the box was so pretty, but I never got a good photo of the products so there’s that… Anyways, this is my last Birchbox for this year (I got my Birchbox in February 2014) and I have over $50 in Birchbox points that need spending. Any suggestions? Check out their website here and then let me know in the comments! Now let’s get started!

Sumbody // Body Soap in Milky Rich (Full Size $17.85 | Sample Size $5.95): Okay I haven’t ever been a big fan of any of the body soaps I’ve tried out (I’m more of a shower gel/body wash kinda girl), but for some reason I’m so attracted to them and keep buying them. Needless to say, I’m excited to try this out and see if it’s any better than the body soaps I’ve tried in the past.

Balance Me // Wonder Eye Cream (Full Size $38 | Sample Size $17.73): I’m super excited about this product because I’ve actually been meaning to buy myself an eye cream. This one is more focused on anti-aging than I’d like, but that’s okay. It’s supposed to target dark circles as well which I definitely have problems with!

Curly Hair Solutions // Curl Keeper Gel (Full Size $17.50 | Sample Size $2.19): I always love trying out curly hair products, so I’m excited to try this out.

Cynthia Rowley Beauty // Creamy Lip Stain in Heartthrob (Full Size $20 | Sample Size $9.29): I’m not in love with the way the color looks in the bottle (it’s a bit too orangey for me), but often times it looks different on your lips, so finger crossed!

Essentiel Elements // Wake Up Rosemary Body Lotion (Full Size $19 | Sample Size $3.56): I love the smell of this body lotion and the bottle it comes in is just adorable! No doubt this will be used up very quickly!

I’m very impressed with Birchbox this month! All of these are products I will be sure to use and the entire box is valued at about $38.72 which is incredible, considering I only pay $10 for the entire box and the shipping. I’ll probably be doing a whole overview of the Birchboxes that I’ve received this year and pick out some of my favorites so keep an eye out for that!

What do you think of the products I received this month?

Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser Review

IMG_1863 - Version 5Hey you lovely people! How are you all? I’m finally done with midterms! Yay! This week has been crazy stressful and right now all I want is a massage, but I digress. So today I’ll be talking about the Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser which I’ve been loving. I went through two bottles of this baby and each bottle lasted me about 1 ½ to 2 months. This cleanser has an amazing orange smell that lingers slightly on the skin, leaving a very light orange scent. (However, I should note that after a few uses, I stopped noticing the lingering scent.) This cleanser is also very gentle which is great, especially if you have SUPER sensitive skin like I do. It starts off as an orange gel and as you rub it on to your face, it turns into this milky substance (which will sometimes run down your arms). There’s nothing particularly special about this cleanser and it’s not a miracle worker (you’re still going to have the occasional bad day), but my skin, in general, tends to be clearer when I use it. It’s now my go to face wash, the one I know I can always rely on.

Have you used this cleanser? What did you think?

This Tree is on Fire

Despite the freezing temperatures, we had fun, as it was nice to spend some time together. The frost we saw on the ground of the forest was so cool looking. According to my Dad it’s called hoar frost, which I believe is correct. The sunset was absolutely amazing as well. As you can see from above, it looked like the trees were on fire. Days like this remind me how much I love hiking. It’s a bit too cold to go in the winter time (I basically had to run to keep myself warm), but I’m definitely adding hiking to my summer bucket list.

How did you spend New Years Day?

Blogiversary + Hopes for 2015

IMG_2006 - Version 3

One year ago today I wrote my very first post on this blog talking about my hopes and dreams for the upcoming year. One year, 95 posts, and 105 Bloglovin’ followers later, here we are. I am so so thankful to each and every one of you that has supported me in any way, whether it be by following my blog, commenting, or even just taking the time to read a post. Thank you so so much and I love each and every one of you. As I continue to grow and expand my blog, I’d love to hear your suggestions and comments. Always feel free to shoot me an email or tweet at me.

Now on to my hopes for 2015. I want to do so many things this year and I know doing everything is not going to be possible, but here it goes anyways. This year I would like to:

  1. Be more active – Okay I know I say something along these lines every year, but this year I actually have a plan. I got a vívofit for Christmas (basically just a fancy pedometer) and it has a very cool feature where it automatically sets a goal for you, depending on how many steps you took the day before, gradually trying to get you to be more active. Hopefully I’ll be working out more this year as well, but…baby steps.
  2. Cook/bake something once a week – I love to bake and cook and I want to be doing a lot more of that this year. I’m looking at some cooking/baking classes and one of these days I hopefully will be able to start my own bakery!
  3. DON’T PROCRASTINATE – This is my biggest problem. I procrastinate EVERYTHING. This year my goal is to start things as soon as I get them because school is my biggest priority right now. If that means blogging has to take the backseat, I’ll be sad, but so be it. My time management skills need some serious work though.
  4. Start a YouTube channel – Making videos is something I’ve been into every since I was little and I’d really like to start getting back into that. However, this is probably the least likely to happen of this whole list as finding the time to do EVERYTHING is pretty hard. Hopefully I’ll get a few videos up this year though!

This year is going to be crazy and amazing and really freaking awesome. I am so ready. LET’S DO THIS.

What are your hopes for the New Year?
