A Great and Terrible Beauty Review

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray – This book started off boring and just not good. I was not impressed. I know there are some books that start off really boring, but then end up being really good (for example, The Mysterious Benedict Society), but I had to read more than half of the book to really get into it. At that point I was kind of over it. If this book was a stand alone, I would say no, this book is not worth reading at all, but it is part of a series, and I hear that the other books are much better. My friend was almost crying at the end of the third one. You might want to read this book just so you can get to the other books. I’ll let you know.

Have you read this book? What did you think?

21 Jump Street Review

I loved this movie. It was hilarious. There was nothing particularly deep about it and there was a lot of swearing (which I know some people don’t like), but I enjoyed watching it. I think it’s a perfect movie for summer because it’s just fun and doesn’t make you think too much. Not that I don’t like when movies make you think, but variety is good. I’ll be sure to watch 22 Jump Street soon.

Forever 21/Victoria’s Secret/Lush Haul

So I spent a little bit too much money in Forever 21 the other day, but I got some great stuff. Enjoy!

IMG_0585 This was one of my favorite purchases from Forever 21. These shorts are just so cute and so comfy. They’re actually sitting in my dirty clothes pile at the moment and I need to wash them so I can wear them again!IMG_0592 This skirt is so cute, but unfortunately very see through, so I’ll need to buy a pair of white spandex before I can wear these. In fact, I was just looking on the Forever 21 website and they have a ton of different spandex shorts which would be perfect. You can find them here.IMG_0601 IMG_0597 This kimono thing is sooooo comfy and by putting it on, it automatically makes your outfit look ultra-chic. So it’s a win-win.

IMG_0603This skirt isn’t quite as pink as it looks in the picture (it’s more of a dusty pink), but it’s just as cute. Even my sister complimented me when I came down wearing it this morning.
IMG_0608 I love these shorts (I’ve wanted a pair of lace shorts for forever), but unfortunately, I did not realize how short they really were until I actually wore them. I have to pull them down every few seconds.IMG_0616 Although this shirt seems a little boxy in the picture, it fits me beautifully and I love, love, love it!IMG_0618_2 This skirt is freaking awesome. If you couldn’t tell, it’s a high-low skirt and that feature gives any outfit a little extra oomph.IMG_0638_2Another pair of shorts that I absolutely loved, but later realized are way too short. I really don’t want to be showing my butt to the whole world thanks…
IMG_0644Another pair of shorts! Guess what? Too short again! Yeah I didn’t have great luck with shorts that day, though apparently I thought I did. I’ll probably end up wearing these babies under some of my shorter skirts. Either that or wear them with tights. Ooooooh.IMG_0652I love this dress! It’s pretty see through, so I’ll have to make sure I’m wearing the right underwear and bra, but I have those things. Now I just need an occasion to wear it for!IMG_0634Now I really didn’t need new underwear, but Victoria’s Secret was having a sale (7 pairs of underwear for $26.50) and with prices usually being around $8-10 per pair, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity.
IMG_0659 We all know and love Lush. So of course I had to have a quick pop in there and take a look around. As soon as I came in, I was approached and told about all the new products Lush had. One of the items was this ginger bath bomb called Granny Takes A Dip. I’m a big fan of ginger so of course I had to try it. Look for a review coming soon! 😉IMG_0665This is one of–if not the–best purchases I made that day. It was featured in my July Favorites posts. It smells absolutely heavenly and if you are a big fan of jasmine scented things, then you need this in your life.

July Favorites

Another month has come and gone. Summer is just flying by, unfortunately. I did a really good job keeping track of my favorites this month, so you are really getting what I’ve been loving this whole month, not just the beginning of the month.

One thing I’ve been loving this month is Bolthouse Farms drinks (I’ve been calling it Boathouse Farms until I finally looked it up today). They’re so delicious and packed with all kinds of good nutrients.

Another thing I’ve been loving is Superwoman‘s YouTube videos. She’s so funny and watching her videos always makes me happy.

Flying Fox Shower Gel – Okay well technically, I’ve only used this twice, but it is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever smelled. If you love the scent of the Sex Bomb from Lush you will love this. The ladies at Lush told me I should buy the bigger size and I should have listened to them. (Not that I had any money at the point, but still…)

Orange Ginger Hand Soap – My mom, my sister, and I all received things from the Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy line for Christmas, and I must say, I’m pretty impressed. This hand soap and lotion that my mom received is my latest favorite though. The scent is amazing and the soap doesn’t dry out my hands (though we’ll see how that changes when winter comes). I haven’t used the lotion all that much, but it smells amazing as well.

Protect and Detangle Spray – Honestly, I’m not all that sure what this does. I’ve been using it as a hair serum to make my curls bouncier, by scrunching it into my hair when wet. It works really well some days and not so well other days, but my hair isn’t all crunchy after it dries which I appreciate. However, the real reason I love it so much is the scent (there seems to be a theme in this post today). It smells like vanilla cupcakes and oh my goodness I just want to eat it out of the bottle.
IMG_0737Sea Island Cotton Fine Fragrance Mist – More scent loving! For some reason, I got it in my mind that this perfume (well actually I really should say body spray) was called Summer Breeze. It’s obviously not, but I think that’s what reminds me of. Not that any summer breeze I have encountered has ever smelled like this, but it’s what I imagine a summer breeze should smell like. This scent is very fresh (it actually smells like freshly laundered sheets I think), but I love it.

I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know if what you think of my July Favorites!

First Love Review

First Love by James Patterson (click on photo for image source)

This book is about a boy and a girl who run away and have an adventure. Honestly, it’s a pretty awesome adventure. However, I have mixed feelings about the book. I love the whole adventure thing, but I think the romance is so cliche. Yet, at the same time, I feel like I can relate to how the girl in this book feels. I don’t think her feelings are wrongly expressed. So why don’t I like it? Who knows. I also feel like this book’s missing something. I don’t know what it is though… Would I recommend this book? Maybe. Like I said, I love the adventure, but it feels like something’s missing.

Have you read this book? What did you think?
