I used to live in a really small town. REALLY small. Like, 2000 people small. I only lived there for about a year and a half, but I really made connections with the people in that town. My best friend still lives there! I moved from that town to where I am now. The school population here is triple of what it was there and unfortunately, I lost that sense of community, and I really miss that. I see these posts on Facebook where people will support a person who has done something inspirational for the community or someone who is going through a tough time. I don’t really see that as much where I live. Everyone can get very competitive and this isolates us. However, I’m curious about the communities you guys live in! Let me know in the comments! 🙂
I must say, I am a fan of these teas. Of course, what tea don’t I like? However, these tea bags were packaged especially beautifully and had especially lovely tastes. I received both of these teas in my February Birchbox.
This first tea is called Organic Bangkok. Such an interesting taste! It has coconut in it; something I’ve never tasted before in a tea! Now this is not something I would have every day, but I really enjoyed being able to try this in my Birchbox. If you are an adventurous person who likes trying new trying new things, I would definitely give this a go! Not something you think you might like, but it might turn out really enjoy it! Anyways, a thumbs up from me! Sorry the light is so orangey in this picture! I took this at midnight while I was studying for AP Gov a while ago. Anyways, for the less adventurous of you tea lovers, you might enjoy this tea (Mint Verbena) a little bit more. It’s more of your classic type of mint tea, except for the fact it has lemon in it. I honestly don’t really remember if I tasted lemon or not, all I can remember is that this was a delicious mint tea. This is a lot coming from me as I can be pretty wary of mint teas. They can taste pretty gross if you don’t buy the right ones. However, this one is delicious and you should definitely try it if you have a chance!
I can’t get over this beautiful packaging that Harney & Sons has! It’s so beautiful… Also, looking at the Harney & Sons makes me want to go buy a bunch of tea now. Too bad I don’t have any money… Boooo 😦
Check out the Harney & Sons website and let me what teas look best to you while I try to scrounge up some money to buy them! 😉
So before I bought this shampoo and conditioner, I was researching online what shampoo and conditioners are best for curly hair. There were a lot of different specific recommendations but one thing I read was that sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner is the best, because supposedly it isn’t supposed to dry your hair out. So I was at RiteAid and this shampoo and conditioner said it was sulfate-free and for curly hair! I was like, perfect! However, I haven’t been all that impressed. When I first started using this, it really dried out my scalp and I got really bad dandruff. I also felt that my hair was becoming more brittle. Honestly, I think this shampoo did the opposite of what I thought it would do: dry out my hair. The one plus to this shampoo-conditioner set is that it smells really good. Like a vanilla cupcake! Yum! I would not recommend this product though because it did not do anything great for my hair.
Can anyone recommend any good shampoos/conditioners for curly hair?
I’m always on the lookout for a new body wash. (Soap and Glory’s Sugar Crush and Nivea’s Touch of Cashmere are my current favorites, if you were wondering.) However, I did enjoy this one as well. What drew my eye to it was the fact that it was cheap (only about $4 dollars when I bought it, but I think the actual price is about $6) and apparently it had a whole jar of moisturizer in it. I was sold, but I was skeptical about whether or not it would actually live up to expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I found the texture to be very thick and the body wash felt luxurious on my skin. However, I wouldn’t recommend using this when taking a bath, as it can make your skin feel heavy. This doesn’t happen in the shower though and it also might just be me. The only other possible complaint someone might have is the scent. It is a very sweet orchid scent. I actually don’t mind it all that much, but if you don’t like a strong floral scent, then don’t try this. I would recommend this overall though.
What is your favorite body wash?
Number 4™ Volumizing Shampoo (Full Size $34 | Sample Size $4) and Number 4™ Volumizing Condition (Full Size $36 | Sample Size $1.06): I love to try shampoos and conditioners! I honestly don’t need my hair to volumized, but sure, why not?
SmartyPants All-in-One Gummy Vitamins for Adults (Full Size $29.99 | Sample Size $0.33): Another thing I didn’t necessarily need, but sure, why not?
Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream (Full Size $20 | Sample Size $2.93): I actually was really excited to get this in my Birchbox as I have been meaning to buy a new shaving cream! (And this one smells like grapefriut! Delicious!)LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil (Full Size $18): When I was trying to figure out how much the sample size was worth, I realized it was actually a full size so YAY! Anyways, I’m really excited to use this lip lube because of its lovely color and also because it is apparently minty!
CoTZ Face Natural Skin Tone SPF 40 (Full Size $20 | Sample Size $0.94): Sun screen… Yeah that’s great I guess, but I really don’t really need it. Thanks anyways though!
The total value of this Birchbox was $27.26. It was a fairly good Birchbox. Some good new things to try out!
What have you guys been getting in your subscription boxes recently? Anything good?
As we are getting into the warmer months, the air stopped being so dry and I found that my other skincare products were making my face feel very oily. So I dug around in my stash and found these Neutrogena products. I am not realizing that this looks like a sponsored post because of how every product is from Neutrogena, but I can promise you, it is not. A while ago (back in the winter months), I decided that I wanted to buy a combination skin moisturizer from RiteAid. I was like, “Oooh, Neutrogena is probably good. Oooh, look apparently these other products work well with this moisturizer. Let’s buy them all!” When I used these products back then, I was not impressed. Everything made my skin feel too tight and my face felt really dry. So I set aside the barely used bottles. However, in a less dry climate, these products work very nicely! Sometimes I even leave the house without powder on! My three step routine:
- Wash face with the Fresh Foaming Cleanser.
- Apply Alcohol-Free Toner on the troublesome spots of the face. (I’m sorry I don’t believe toner does anything other than dry out your skin. Someone find me a toner that is different and I will try it.)
- Apply Oil-Free Moisture – Combination Skin all over the face. (This stuff is really light and I always end up putting way too much in my hand than I need.)
I am just loving this combination right now. I was just feeling my face earlier (oh my goodness that sounds so weird) and my face felt so soft! If you have combination skin I would definitely give at least the moisturizer a go!
Have you changed up your skin routine for summer?
So I know April was a long time ago (how time flies!), but I never posted my April Birchbox, so I’m just going to write a mini review each of these products for you. Also, I apologize for the crappy photos, I took these photos a long time ago and when I planned on writing this post on my London trip. Enjoy!
Aren’t these tips cute? I don’t make my own coffee and I probably won’t for a while, but I love the idea of these little tips! If you would like, you can buy all 52 of them here.
Paula’s Choice RESIST Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator (Full Size $27 | Sample Size $7.94): Eh…not really a fan. My first impressions really aren’t great, but I might try this again because my skin tends to go through phases.
Miss Jessie’s® Transitioner’s Magic (Full Size $22 | Sample Size $2.75): I was so excited to get this in the mail! I have heard so many great things about Miss Jessie’s and being a curly haired girl I just had to try one of their products. I really liked this product. It gave my hair a very relaxed curl without being frizzy. What other Miss Jessie’s products should I try?
Gilchrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Wash (Full Size $15 – 8 oz): Another eh… from me. I really wasn’t all that impressed with this body wash. Didn’t feel all that moisturizing, and nothing else about it really stood out or made it different. It did feel cooling, but only if you put it directly on your skin, which is not how I like to put on my body wash. Really wasn’t a fan.
Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner (Full Size $11 | Sample Size $4.40): I am not a big eyeliner wearer, but I really like this one! It has made its way into my everyday makeup routine. I put just a little bit on the outer half of my lower lash line. I like the crayon type texture, but it may not be for everyone. The packaging is also great; the eyeliner screws up! Loving this product!
KIND Healthy Grain Bars (Full Size $11.88 | Sample Size $0.79): I love these bars! Truthfully, I really didn’t eat much of this though, it was a little bit too sweet for me when I was eating it. I was in the middle of taking a test and I don’t know tests just stress me out. I just really wasn’t that big a fan of the flavor, but their other bars are good! My favorite is Dark Chocolate Chunk or something like that.
Not a great Birchbox, but there are a couple of good things!
